First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City is sponsoring a youth camp this year to be held June 15 – 20 at Lake Murray in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Our goal is to provide a camp for youth age 14 – 18 that will encourage leadership, community, and exploration of UU identity. OKC has a long history of providing quality youth programming and is anxious to include youth from all over the Southwest District.

Following a theme of “Oh The Places We’ll Go!”, we will have social action opportunities, workshops, worships, and lots and lots of fun.

For more information contact Ann McDermott ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) (adult) or Corie White ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) (youth).

This website will continue to be updated as we have new information and online registration will be available here.

FAQs about Camp Murray

How do I register?

Registration will be online. Must register before June 13. No walk-ins.

How much does it cost?

$175 if you register before June 1, $225 if registering between June 1 and June 13.

If at all possible, we would like for you to mail your registration fees in advance so that we will have operating funds.

What time do we need to get there? When do we leave?

Official check-in time is 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 15. Touch group leaders and staff need to be there by noon. Camp is officially over at 11:00 am on Friday, June 20.

How do I get there?

We are encouraging youth and adults to carpool. Work together with your parents and other youth in your area to make arrangements for transportation in advance. Youth are encouraged to not drive because you will be so exhausted on your way home. Please use this as a last resort and we must know that it is okay with your parents if you are under 18.

Who are the advisors?

Advisors are experienced adults from Oklahoma City and other churches in the SW District. All advisors must have references and will have a background check.

Is this a district sponsored camp?

No, this camp is sponsored by First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City. We have talked about doing this for years and have chosen to do it now because we are not able to host a rally this year. Oklahoma City is still a strong supporter of district programming.

Will the Big Four still apply? Will smoking be permitted?

Yes to the Big Four. No to the smoking. This was agreed upon by the youth leadership.

How can I be a touch group leader?

Contact Jake Lock or Teeny Collins.

Can I lead a workshop?

Yes, contact Sarah Alem, John Wood, or Ann McDermott. Please contact us by June 1.

Will there be a bridging ceremony?

Yes, we have been in contact with several young adults who would like to participate in this. This will be held on Thursday, June 19.
